Case studies

The work, with the decisions left in.

Each study covers the context, constraints, tradeoffs, and collaboration behind the outcome — because that’s where the real design happened.

Trade Lifecycle — key visual

Trade Lifecycle

A proof-of-concept that unified three separate financial applications into a single product organized around one continuous trade lifecycle.

Role
Principal Product Designer, sole designer
Timeline
Late May - early June 2026
Team
Sole designer, with a Principal Product Manager (buy-side & trading applications) and a senior director (trading & analytics)
Platform
Web (institutional trading platform)

Opportunity: Disconnected under the hood. Inconsistent on screen.

  • Proof-of-concept prototyping
  • Stakeholder workshops
  • Cross-application UX audit
  • Design system consolidation
  • Compliance workflow design

Outcome: A complete, coherent proof of concept — and an honest stopping point.

Find What Matters — key visual

Find What Matters

A redesign initiative exploring what a dedicated starting point could look like for a grid-first portfolio management application — scaled from an ambitious dashboard concept down to a shipped AI-assisted filter.

Role
Senior Product Designer (sole designer on this initiative)
Timeline
March – May 2026
Team
Senior Product Designer (sole) + Senior Product Manager, Senior Engineering Lead, Associate Director of Engineering
Platform
Web (institutional portfolio management platform)

Opportunity: The grid's flexibility came at a cost: nothing distinguished "requires attention" from "everything else," and there was no way to be notified when something changed. Users were effectively asked to provide their own vigilance layer, manually, in a domain where missing a change carries real financial consequence.

  • Stakeholder workshops
  • Live design jam sessions
  • Design system integration
  • Scope negotiation
  • AI-assisted feature design

Outcome: One piece shipped: the AI-assisted filter, as an internal-only pilot. The multi-grid and full-dashboard concepts remained unbuilt, documented as the next phases of a roadmap I no longer have visibility into.

Prospect to Proposal — key visual

Prospect to Proposal

A tool that lets wealth advisors upload a prospect's holdings, resolve data gaps, compare against models, and generate a proposal — closing a gap advisors used to fill by hand in Excel.

Role
Principal Product Designer, design lead — drove decisions stakeholder alignment and split execution with a direct report.
Timeline
October 2024 - November 2025
Team
Principal Product Designer, design lead + 1 senior designer (direct report), 1 PM, senior engineering lead + dev team
Platform
Web (institutional wealth management platform)

Opportunity: Every workflow on the platform assumes a portfolio already exists. Prospects break that assumption completely.

  • Stakeholder workshops
  • Design mentorship & coaching
  • Cross-platform integration design
  • Scope negotiation
  • Data-coverage workaround design

Outcome: A complete product, live with real prospects and real advisors — with the final chapter outside my view.

Let's work together

Good design and good leadership shouldn't be a tradeoff.

I've spent my career doing both — shipping products for institutional finance and growing the designers who build them. If that's the kind of design leader you're looking for, reach out.
